Special Events in Old Saybrook

Memorial Day parade. Every summer, the Chamber of Commerce organizes an Arts & Craft show, a Taste-of-Saybrook fest, a boat show, Summer Pops Concert and Fireworks, and sidewalk sales. There are also outdoor concerts on the Town Green weekly in the summer. During the holidays, there is a Christmas Stroll along Main Street and the annual Torchlight Muster and Carol Sing.

New York City Modern Art Adventure
Join the Arts Center at Killingworth on an all day Art Bus Tour to New York City.  Dorothea Basile, Director of ARTime, will guide participants on an interactive tour of the Chelsea Art District, home to more than 300 galleries.  Children and adults will engage in discussions and activities to learn about the ideas, materials, and techniques of today's artists.  After lunch, MoMA educator, Nathan Sensel will  orient participants to MoMA's exhibitions.

Portraiture Workshop with master Pastelist, Claudia Post
Join the Arts Center at Killingworh for a Sunday Afternoon Workshop with Artist Claudia Post.  In this pastel painting workshop, students working from a live model will learn techniques used by Ms. Post to create her award-winning pastel portraits.  Participants will use these methods for layering soft pastels to create an underdrawing, the basis of every pastel portrait.  Ms. Post is an Elected Member of the Pastel Society of America and The Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists.

VISTA's Starlight Ball
Join celebrity host John Pinette, fresh off his successful run in the Broadway hit musical Hairspray at Vista's Starlight Benefit Ball -  Activities include dinner, dancing music by Shiny Lapel Trio and live and silent auctions.
